This blog and emerging pseudo-science is leading the way for a a??no tricks and gimmicksa?? answer, that is not belief dependent, for hypnotists and meditation enthusiasts around the world.
I have been on a mission to understand hypnosis for over ten years. Not just to understand how to become hypnotized, perform self-hypnosis and hypnotize others; but moreover, the rationalizations underlying the results. My perspective differs from the communally recognized Hypnotist beliefs in my definitions, rationalizations and applications. I dont propose that my whys and explanations represent the absolute truth, only that I have a perspective that seems just as plausible and does not accommodate parts of the old whys and explanations.

In this post I will deconstruct myths and misinformation about hypnosis by filtering old explanations and reasonings through the trance-ology philosophy. Through this deconstruction and reconstruction process I hope to change the language we use and the rationalizations we inherit.

Though hypnosis and trance phenomena have histories that reach back to the origin of man, hypnosis as a science is a modern development, discovery and contrivance. Hypnosis as a science is still in its infancy and is not a science of certainty, but an experimental pseudo-science wrought with uncertainty. Hypnosis cannot be a phenomenon and a science, all in one breath. When you separate the phenomenon from the why reasoning governing its uses, it becomes clear that the concepts defining the phenomena surpass current rationalizations.

Many hypnotists feigning skepticism out there say, If it ain`t broke, don`t fix it! I say just because its holding together, doesnt mean it can carry anymore weight. Many hypnotists will tell you I know it works, I just dont know exactly how or why it works!. To put it simply, Hypnosis as a concept has been exploited globally. It is a great means for people with a hero complex to try and fix the world, one wayward mind at a time. To the extent that the hypnosis market is devoid of benign experiences. Everything you will see on the market is asking you to change. I want other hypnotists to realize that the state of hypnosis (guided trance) transcends contrived metaphoric, opinionated and suggestive prescriptions for change.

The web of misinformation has not been maliciously cast. Hypnosis was developed by people who knew that it worked, knew how to make it work in different ways but couldnt fully explain why it worked. The result is global misnomers and therapeutic intentions that fall short the desired results. If we separate the why reasonings, uses and explanations of the trance phenomenon from hypnosis, hopefully we will be left with some more concrete scientific answers.
