Maryland, and most of humanity, could be the lucky benefactors.
In a recent Washington Post article, it was reported that some major players in the science industry, including Johns Hopkins University System were are actively lobbying to create a "science city" that would represent literally every science discipline under the sun. This idea was sparked by other research amalgamations like Triangle Park in N.C. and California's Palo Alto

This idea has received a lot of support thus far particularly with regard to job creation, thought to triple the existing work force to around 60,000. The Montgomery area is already home to over 300 biotech companies like QIAGEN and Novavax, so the addition of this behemoth would certainly put them in contention for biotech capital of the US.

Anything we can do to advance science in this country should be done. But isn't 10 B starting to sound like chump change? How long does it take to spend that much money on our two wars? Less than a day?

Thanks for the article, Joh
