Stem Cells from Fat Cells!

A recent study just came out that demonstrates that stem cells can be created through the use of fat cells, of which there are plenty in the US!

Perhaps this will allow stem cell research to finally continue moving forward!

Well, just a minute... The link is towards an article from 2001. Is that really a new study??

The idea has been around for a while and there were some successes in vitro to the point that fat cells were de-differentiated into other types of cells. When I was in Dentistry we were considering using adipocytes (fat cells) to obtain osteoblasts and other cell types for tissue regeneration project.

It definitely be nice to be able to convert extra fat into useful cells.
