Four degrees of warming "likely"

BBC is reporting today that new projections are predicting faster-than-expected warming trends than previously anticipated. They show that the world may see 4 degrees (Celsius) of warming by 2060 with 15 degrees (C) increase at the poles.

I don't know about you, but this really scares me. 4 degrees is huge and will drastically impact global climate conditions. Temperatures in Africa will likely become even hotter, leading to even worse drought and thus even more water shortages. With the ice caps melting, global sea levels will rise which will threaten coastal cities.

With the Copenhagen talks coming in December, one can only hope that the US steps up to the plate and takes a leadership role to address this potential catastrophe.

You are right in worrying about the rise in temperature by 4*C. Infact its not only the question for uncomfortability but also the coastal areas which will be engulfed by the increased amount of water in the oceans.
The talks and conferences are always good if the decisions made there are practically followed by all the countries.
We as an earth-dweller should cut down our those needs that harm more than benefit in long run.
Regards!
