LabRoots is looking for a Science Editor to review scientific articles across a variety of scientific genres, report on writer progress, hire/fire writers, create and review site-based and promotional content. The right candidate will have experience digesting scientific news and literature and providing effective feedback to writers in a constructive manner.
Responsibilities
LabRoots is looking for a Science Editor to review scientific articles across a variety of scientific genres, report on writer progress, hire/fire writers, create and review site-based and promotional content. The right candidate will have experience digesting scientific news and literature and providing effective feedback to writers in a constructive manner.
Review, approve/deny, and provide feedback on 40-60 scientific articles per week (300-500 words/article) | |
Submit individual writer reports and reviews | |
Review article summaries for use on social media | |
Hire/fire writers for the Trending News articles | |
Create SEO optimized site content for LabRoots virtual events, promotions, and general use | |
Maintain and build new pages within the CMS | |
Propose email content, subject lines, teasers | |
Propose social media content for LabRoots promotions | |
Other miscellaneous content-related duties |
Desired Qualifications & Skills
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications & skills ...
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, communications, or a similar field preferred | |
2+ Years experience in scientific editing or related field | |
General knowledge of SEO |
Strong editing skills, specifically scientific/technical editing conventions | |
Prior digital journalism experience | |
Up to date on the latest science news | |
Passionate about science |
