Abstract

As the SARS-CoV-2 continues to spread and evolve and vaccination efforts are under way, countries around the world are confronting new public health challenges due to the emergence and rapid dominance of novel genetic variants. Evidently, there is great need for robust genomics tools to support viral detection and surveillance efforts. While RT-PCR is a great and inexpensive tool for diagnostics, only Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) solutions facilitate the genetic characterization of the virus and provide insights of the viral variant dynamics.  In this talk, you will discover how a hybrid capture based NGS approach can efficiently and reliably call SARS-CoV-2 genetic variants with high sensitivity and fewer false negatives.
