Abstract

Just Released On Demand Webinar in Honor of World Thrombosis Day!

VTE is a serious hypercoagulable disorder with significant risk of morbidity and mortality and an incidence of 188 per 100,000 children discharged from hospitals in the United States (approximately 4,500 total) according to one study (Setty et al., Pediatr Blood Cancer 2012).  While diagnostic and treatment guidelines are well established for adult populations, less published information has typically been available for practitioners responsible for working with pediatric populations.  In order to provide needed clarification, this webinar will provide an overview of current literature and known best practices for screening, confirmation, and diagnosis of pediatric VTE.

Objectives:

  • Explain overview of the venous thromboembolism (VTE) disease state and presentation in at risk pediatric populations.
  •  Clarify screening algorithms for pediatric VTE diagnosis.
  •  Present current treatment options for pediatric populations diagnosed with VTE.
  •  Discuss research studies previously published or in development which allows for improvement of best practices for patients presenting with this disorder.

This webinar is available on-demand, 24/7 starting on October 13 at 6 am PT at no cost!  Simply preregister to schedule the webinar on your calendar then login any time after that date and time to view the webinar alone or with colleagues.
