ABOUT

I am a plant pathologist with deep-rooted interests in the multitrophic, ecological interactions between plants, pathogens, and beneficial microbes and plant diseases of agronomic significance. While working as a research assistant professor at Kansas State University, I got hooked on the ecology and genomics of insect vector-borne plant-pathogenic viruses, with my primary initiatives focussed on characterizing vector host response to virus infection and development of biotech-based strategies for controlling plant virus diseases through pathogen- and pest-derived resistance (RNA-interference). I also enjoy mentoring undergraduates in the ways of scientific inquiry, with multicultural diversity at the center of my pedagogical approach.
