Cryo-EM is a sophisticated type of microscopy that utilizes electrons to visualize specimens frozen at cryogenic temperatures. Cryogenic temperatures range from −150 °C (−238 °F) to absolute zero (−273 °C or −460 °F) and at these low temperatures molecular motion comes as close as theoretically possible to stopping.
