Coagulation is a biological process in which blood changes from a liquid to a solid in order to prevent blood loss via formation of a clot. Recent advances in monitoring the coagulation process have been used to identify the cause of hemorrhages, developing anticoagulant drugs, and assessing bleeding risk during surgical procedures. Advances in coagulation are supported by advanced technologies, such as microfluidics and fluorescent microscopy, which measure various parameters of clot formation.
