Are Homeopathic Remedies Truly Effective?

Did you know that homeopathic remedies are not evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)? In a video sponsored by the American Chemical Society, you'll learn a little about how ineffective homeopathic remedies are due to their lack of scientific support.

Dr. Samuel Hahnemann coined the term "homeopathic" in 1807 when he thought biomedical approaches were more dangerous than they should be. Medicine has come a long way in the past two centuries, though, and now scientists are trying to communicate how untrue the three pillars of homeopathy are: 1) "Like cures like," 2) Dilution, 3) "Water can remember."

Homeopathic remedies have been called "inconsistent" by the National Institutes of Health, and scientists have proven that any supposedly "successful" cases of cure by homeopathic remedies are only due to the patient's belief that he or she is receiving an effective treatment, and the same result would have come from a placebo.
