Thousands of studies have shown how pivotal the brain is to our physical health.

A 2011 study conducted by the University of Wisconsin found that people recover faster when they believe a given treatment will work. Other studies have found that social connectedness is the largest predictor of health and how long you will live. Humans are a social species, and those who live with other people actually live longer than those who live alone.

People respond differently to stress, but it's important not to have too much of it. There are ways to alleviate stress even when your job relates to it. Ways to alleviate stress include: reducing cigarettes, alcohol and caffeine; getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, petting animals, writing positive thoughts, and exercising.

It's important to understand what works for you and to put conscious effort into keeping your brain healthy.
