Elegy for the Arctic

Earlier this month, Italian pianist and composer, Ludovico Einaudi, performed probably one of his most memorable shows in his career. Sitting on a floating artificial iceberg in the Arctic Ocean, Einaudi performed his Elegy for the Arctic - a composition he wrote to say farewell to the melting glaciers and to bring awareness about what climate change is costing our world.

"Being here has been a great experience," Einaudi said. "I could see the purity and fragility of this area with my own eyes and interpret a song I wrote to be played upon the best stage in the world. It is important that we understand the importance of the Arctic, stop the process of destruction and protect it."

The backdrop of Einaudi's "stage" highlights the effects of global warming on a grand scale. As the ice continues to retreat due to rising temperatures, we could be facing one of the biggest losses in ecological diversities worldwide. In addition, climate experts think the loss of the sea ice volume will likely contribute to increasingly frequent extreme weather events, such as flooding, superstorms, and droughts.

So please, mourn the loss of our glaciers and help Save the Arctic. (https://www.savethearctic.org/en/voices/)
