Environmental Innovation: Bike with an Ecohelmet
1 4 86

Have you ever used one of those bike shares? Super resourceful, right? But lacking one thing: your bike helmet. Perhaps carrying around the conventional plastic helmet in your bag isn't your style. Well, you're in luck because a design student in NYC has just created a pocket-sized disposable helmet made from recycled paper, which she plans to make available at bike sharing stations.

Developed into a foldable honeycomb design, the helmet is water-resistant for up to three hours and is as solid as a polycarbonate plastic helmet, keeping your head safe and dry. The design recently won the 2016 International James Dyson Award and its designer is currently looking to work with engineers to move the process to mass production. What another cool way to limit your plastic use and stay green-minded!
