Meet the World's Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge
3 2 151

If you ever visit Randa, Switzerland, try to visit the Charles Kuonen pedestrian suspension bridge, which just opened this past week. It's the current world record holder for the longest pedestrian suspension bright ever built.

It's 1621 feet long, and at some points, rises more than 279 feet above the ground. You've probably seen suspension bridges like these in cartoons, usually collapsing right out from under your favorite cartoon character, but this one is built with modern materials and is sure to be both a safe and exciting venture.

The Charles Kuonen pedestrian suspension bridge replaces an older bridge that was shut down because it was deemed unsafe, but if you went there today, you'd see tourists and locals walking across it to get a better view of the mountains.

It reportedly comes equipped with a unique vibration system that prevents it from swinging back and forth, but that still might not be enough reassurance for some people who are afraid of heights to make the journey across the bridge.
