Abstract

What is desperately needed are methods to detect cells that cause metastasis–known as cancer stem cells (CSC), a subpopulation of tumor cells with “stem” like, chemoresistant and unlimited self-renewal properties. This webinar will discuss the advancements in the detection of CSCs in primary tumors and in circulation using acoustic flow cytometry together with a new CSC marker, autofluorescence and other CSC markers.

Learning Objectives:

  •  How cancer stem cells can be identified using flow cytometry
  •  What factors that should be considered when using flow cytometry to identify cells from tumors and from blood
  • About sample preparation and choosing CSC markers
