High-precision Microbial Diagnostics From Sequencing Data

Speaker

Abstract

Genetic Molecular Surveillance is a key component of a modern public health toolkit. This talk will detail the molecular microbial make up of urban environments. It will discuss how these environments have changed with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic and how variant identification can be used to accurately identify SARS-CoV-2 strains in a population.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the urban microbiome and it’s potential impact on health.

2. Understand how molecular assays can be used to make fine grained public health decisions.
