Von Willebrand disease is one of the most common bleeding disorders that affects both men and women equally. However, the diagnosis of von Willebrand disease has often been challenging due to broad clinical presentation and variability in testing methods- e.g. Ristocetin cofactor activity. Today you will learn more about the laboratory investigation of von Willebrand disease, focusing on the different tests involved in the diagnosis. In his presentation our speaker will discuss the new guidelines for diagnosis and newer assays for von Willebrand factor activity.
