    Biography
      Over the last four years, Clotilde Teiling has served as a marketing manager specializing in microbiology at the Illumina headquarters in San Diego, California. She began her career as a research scientist for Affymetrix, with a degree in biology from the University of Denver, and spent many years in product development. Additionally, in the last seven years, Clotilde has been in marketing roles where she developed a special interest and focus on microbiomes and metagenomics.

    Abstract:
    This presentation will be demonstrating several different approaches to explore the diversity, function, and ecology of microbial communities.  In Metagenomics, the sequencing of DNA directly from a sample without culturing and isolating organisms, has become the principal tool of “meta-omic” analysis.
