Abstract

Spatial Answers on Oncology - Professor Joan Seoane
Prof. Joan Seoane, Group Leader and Director of the Translational Research program at the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), Professor of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and EACR Secretary general will chair the session as EACR representative.

Reconstructing colorectal cancer tumorigenesis with spatial transcriptomics - Noel De Miranda
We applied the GeoMX Digital Spatial Profiler to investigate transcriptional alterations associated with colorectal cancer onset and progression. The expression of approximately 1800 genes was investigated in epithelial and stromal fractions of regions containing healthy mucosa, different degrees of dysplasia, and cancer. Several genes/pathways were associated with oncogenic transformation and progression in cancer cells but also in stromal/immune cell compartments.

The transcriptomic evolution of radiologically progressing prostate cancer - Vasilis Stavrinides
Imaging-based active surveillance of early prostate cancer is an exciting new alternative to radical treatments. Understanding disease progression on MRI is not only important for personalising surveillance schedules and detecting high-risk disease in a timely manner, but also for appreciating the longitudinal history of focal lesions. Here, pilot spatial transcriptomic data from progressing but untreated prostate cancer will be presented.
