Wellness and health have been trends for the last decade with focus on identifying what each of us individually needs to do to maintain our health and be well. With more states recognizing, and in fact embracing, the healing benefits of medical cannabis, those in the health and wellness industry have begun to take notice.
In the states where medical cannabis is legal, there are many products that contain cannabinoids; smoking a joint is not the only way to introduce a cannabinoid into the body. Admittedly, there are still many unknowns when it comes to marijuana use and our health; however, there are multitudes of studies that have identified one of the plant’s main cannabinoids, cannabidiol or CBD, as a therapeutic option for treatment of inflammation, chronic pain, nausea, and mood disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. CBD does not have any psychoactive properties so does not produce the “high” associated with marijuana.
With the acceptance of the cannabis plant’s healing potential, and the advent of a multitude of ways to ingest cannabinoids, and the supportive environment for these parts of the industry in more and more states, a Denver area medical marijuana dispensary has announced a Cannabis Health and Wellness Fair set to take place April 15, 2018. The community-based event will feature health screenings, panel discussions, culinary demonstrations and additional opportunities to learn more about cannabis culture. It is a non-consumption event for adults over age 21 and co-sponsored by RiNo Supply Company, Sensi Magazine, and Canna Health Clinic.
The goal of the health and wellness fair is to involve local community, businesses, subject matter experts in the field, and others to open up discussion about the topic of cannabis. In addition to panel discussions and screenings, there will be opportunity to provide education and a forum for individuals to learn about research and studies surrounding medicinal cannabis.
The health screenings will provide an opportunity to converse with medical providers if attendees are interested in registering and eligible for a medical marijuana card. There will be alternative medicine providers including representatives from Primal Therapeutics LLC to discuss cannabis-infused massage therapy and plant medicine. J. McCoy, a USPCA-certified personal chef in the Denver area, will be providing demonstrations on how to incorporate cannabis and CBD into healthy meals to support health and wellness.
There is a cash fee to obtain a medical marijuana card for eligible individuals and organizers are excited to share that half of the proceeds of those cards will be donated to support veterans and 30% of vendor sponsorships will be donated to local non-profits for positive engagement in the community.
