The All-too-real Water Shortage

While it’s true that about 70 percent of the Earth's surface is water-covered, almost 97 percent of that is held in the oceans. That mean just about 3 percent is fresh and drinkable, but when you factor in what’s trapped in glaciers and snowfields, that leaves just one sad little percent of the earth’s water accessible to us thirsty humans.

This isn’t a domestic issue, people across the world lack access to drinkable water – that’s 1 in 12 people. This affects crops and industry, as well as what’s available for household or municipal use. There are little things that everyone can do to help with the conserve and recycle water, check out the infographic to learn more.

Science and industry are constantly researching ways to combat the water shortage that is upon us, but until we find a last solution, it might be time to think twice before filling up the tub to the brim or braking out the slip ‘n slide next summer.
