You Wouldn't Want to Get Caught Inside of This Giant Mouse Trap

WRITTEN BY: Anthony Bouchard

Most mouse traps are small, just a few inches in length, but this guy went above and beyond to have the biggest mouse trap on the block.

He built the base out of wood, made the swinging trap out of welded square tubing, and connected it all together with some hardware, coil springs from a car, and a winch that draws pressure against the loaded coil springs to rig the trap.

In this video, you can see just how much force gets loaded into the trap by way of the coil springs. There is so much tension under those springs that it would be too difficult to load the trap by hand; instead, a winch is used to draw the trap back.

When drawn back, a pin is inserted into the trap to keep it from launching. The operator can activate the trap at any time by just removing the pin.

Obviously, creating such a trap is very dangerous, and you should never try this at home. On the other hand, you still got to watch this giant mouse trap smash inanimate objects!
