Is Breakfast Really that Important?

WRITTEN BY: Xuan Pham

We've been countless times to never skip breakfast, the most important meal of the day. But how important is this first meal of the day, and are you doomed if you habitually skip breakfast? How important is it to eat breakfast during breakfast?

Much of the hype surrounding the importance of breakfast comes from the notion that not eating breakfast will cause people to overeat or make poor nutrition decision for the rest of the day. Several studies have been conducted to answer this question, and some have shown a correlation between people who skip breakfast and being overweight. However, while results like these seem to justify a meal in the morning, it's important to note that other studies have found no correlation between skipping the morning meal and a larger waistline.

Ultimately, scientists haven't proven one way or the other concerning the health benefits of breakfast, or the detriments of skipping breakfast. The answer most likely varies with each person and their specific needs. So instead of adhering to conventional wisdom about breakfast, perhaps we should all listen to our own bodies, and figure out if we would be more happy with a meal in the morning or not!
