Post-Hurricane Bacterial Threats

While many people might prepare with a generator, electrical surges can still ruin refrigerators during these storms, and the bacteria that can grow in spoiled food can make people seriously ill. 

Floodwaters can also pose a bacterial threat. So-called coliform bacteria, which is normally found in human fecal matter, can lurk in contaminated water. It’s often advisable to boil water from the tap in these situations until it can be confirmed that it’s safe to drink.
