Have you ever wondered what’s at the bottom of the world’s deepest lake? The deepest lake is the ancient Lake Baikal located in southern Russia and believed to be at least 25 million years old. Lake Baikal is a freshwater lake that is currently being studied for its rise in temperature in the past 70 years.
Curious on what thrives (or used to thrive) at the bottom of the lake, scientists analyzed pollen in the sediments to conclude the kinds of plants that lived there for over 10,000 years ago.
