How exercise affects your brain

WRITTEN BY: Kathryn DeMuth Sullivan

Although there is still so much we have left to learn about the brain, we do already know a lot about it. The brain is the most complex organ in your body, made up of a complex network of billions of nerve cells called neurons, and its neuroplasticity characteristic means that it is able to form new connections and pathways and change how its circuits are wired. This means that that the more you use it, the more efficient your brain becomes.

Of course, certain other factors also influence your brain. Studies have shown that exercise can have a huge impact on improving mental health and can even generate structural changes in the brain. Exercise can even improve your memory because it increases the levels of dopamine and noradrenaline. Want to learn how it works? Watch the video!
