These food "facts" are in fact just myths

Let's go ahead and bust some of these food myths. Take the idea that wooden cutting boards accumulate dangerous bacteria and can, therefore, be more harmful than plastic cutting boards. Not true - at least there's no significant scientific evidence to back up that myth. Just make sure you wash whatever cutting board you use in hot, soapy water and you should be good to go. 

Another one that always gets hype is the myth that salt water boils faster - ever add a pinch of salt just to get that pasta water going faster? Well, while it may add flavor to your pasta, salt doesn't actually change the boiling point of water. Take that, myth debunked!

Here's a third good one: eggs raise your cholesterol. NOPE! While for a time it was touted that the egg yolk raises cholesterol levels and egg whites are safe, eggs actually contain almost no saturated fats or trans fats, which is what really gives your cholesterol a kick.
