Many people keep up on science as regularly as sports scores. They want to see what's new, and read about all of the new scientific discoveries that credible researchers discover with new technology and knowledge.
Unfortunately, not every researcher can be considered credible, and this is the reason why you can't always trust science. Sometimes, information gets a little more inflated than it's worth, and sometimes statistics that are completely made up are added to the mix to give the research more meaning.
In the cases where something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
That's not to say that all science experiments and researchers aren't credible, however. In fact, there are plenty of them that do everything right and contribute legitimate discoveries to mankind. It's important, however, to weed out the good from the bad with logic and reasoning, no matter how interesting something might be.
