A "Game Changing" Cancer Therapy

WRITTEN BY: Brenda Kelley Kim

Researchers at University College London think they have a "game changing" way to fight cancer. Each cancer cell has a unique biological code surrounding it. The team in London, led by Dr. Sergio Quezada is working on a way to use the body's immune system to target this cancer cell code. If only the cells that are cancerous have this identifier, healthy cells that surround the cancer will not be harmed.

The field of precision medicine is at the forefront of fighting cancer. Research is showing that cancer does not behave the same way in each person, and that a personalized approach to defeat one person's specific cancer might be the way to the go.
