Researchers are working on a new type of robotic water snake design that allows the body of the robot to swim through water almost the same as a real snake would.
In all honesty, the designs are downright creepy. Could you imagine being entangled by one of these while you were just merrily swimming along in the water? It reminds me of something from one of the later Terminator sequels.
Nevertheless, they appear to be a part of a project that hopes to make underwater examinations and repairs easier. They're equipped with small tools that can be used to splice or cut wires, and more.
Additionally, they move like a natural snake does, but when they need to, they can call upon built-in thrusters to increase their speed to get away from danger or to hurry to a destination.
They're cool, but intimidating.
