Is There Really a Difference Between Generic & Name Brand Food?

WRITTEN BY: Anthony Bouchard

Many people buy name brand food over the generic brand when they're shopping at the supermarket because of the stereotype that name brands are better than generic brands.

Sometimes there are minor differences between the two, but in many cases, generic brands have the same ingredients and nutritional value as their counterpart, give or take minor variations.

The same can be said with drugs, which people rely on for their health every day. Many times, the generic brands can be just as chemically equal as their name-brand counterparts.

The next time you go grocery shopping, check out the ingredient labels on the backs of what you're buying, and chances are, you'll see a lot of similarities, if not the same thing.
