We're conditioned to understand that food choices affect our outward appearances. Fatty and unhealthy foods are more likely to increase our waist size. Similarly, we know that bad diets increase the risks for health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. But how does our food choices affect one of the most important organs in our bodies: the brain? Does lean eating equal a lean brain?

Indeed, what we put into our stomachs directly impacts the brain and how it functions. Just think about why we get so sleepy after a Thanksgiving meal, or how we get the jitters with too much caffeine. Aside from short-term effects, food choices can have long-lasting impacts, as some foods can even alter our epigenetics and that of our offspring too. Watch the video to find out more about how simple choices affect our most powerful organ.
