Current LA diagnostic guidelines, clinical evidence regarding LA significance, assay selection, and anticoagulant drugs interfering with LA testing will be discussed, along with clinical cases of high interest.

  • Describe role of Lupus Anticoagulant (LA) in Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS).
  • Define current ISTH and CLSI Guidelines, identify tests, and define patient selection for appropriate LA work up.
  • Recognize medications that may cause false positive LA results.
  • Evaluate the right testing strategy for LA testing.
  • Correlate LA and APS to specific clinical cases.
