Abstract

In recent months, we have seen a large part of the global scientific community shift to infectious disease research. In response, researchers are exploring safer and easier methods to handle, isolate, and analyze cells from hazardous materials. Mitigating risk while achieving highly pure, viable cells is essential to understanding the immune system’s role in COVID-19 infection and recovery. When it comes to cell sorting, samples, such as SARS-CoV-2 convalescent samples, virus-infected human cells (e.g., from HIV-positive donors), or bacteria, can escape the fluidic system of a traditional droplet-based cell sorter as aerosols.  Our multi-parametric cell sorting platform offers a solution with its unique closed, single-use, and disposable sorting cartridge. This cartridge provides an increased level of biocontainment and can mitigate the risk when implementing a fluorescent-activated cell sorter in BSL-3 or BSL-2+ level laboratories.

Learning Objectives:

1. Scientists utilizing cell sorting to obtain high quality cell populations from biohazardous samples

2. Mitigating risk while sorting hazardous samples though leveraging a microfluidic-based fluorescent-activated cell sorter

3. GMP-compliant cell sorting options available for your translational research
