How Much Food is Too Much?

WRITTEN BY: Xuan Pham

Food is delicious and essential to our survival. But what happens if you never gave your body a break from food? What if you never stopped eating?

As one would expect, too much of anything can negatively impact health. In the case of overeating, the body is exposed to too much sugar, fat, salt, among other ingredients. This forces the body to work extra hard to process all the excess molecules, which puts many organs at risk for disease. In particular, the heart becomes more vulnerable with increasing amounts of fat and salt intake, raising the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Fortunately, in most cases, the body has built-in mechanisms to prevent us from continually over-gorging ourselves. Watch the video to learn what happens when this system is bypassed.
