Amazing Images From 2017 Photomicrography Competition

The Nikon's Small World is the leading forum for showcasing the beauty and complexity of life as seen through the light microscope. This year they are celebrating 43 years of images captured by the light microscope.

The Photomicrography Competition is open to anyone with an interest in microscopy and photography. This month, Nikon announced it's 2017 competition winners. First place was awarded to a group of scientists from The Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. The image shows immortalized human skin cells (HaCaT keratinocyes) expressing fluorescently tagged keratin. The image was shot using a confocal microscope.

Entries for the 2018 competition are due April, 30 2018.
