Aplastic anemia
Aplastic anemia is a blood disorder occurring characterized by extremely low levels of red blood cells. The disorder results from damage to the bone marrow which ordinarily produces new red blood cells to replace those that die. Patients experiencing aplastic anemia cannot function normally and may require blood transfusions or bone marrow transplants.
