Bioburden testing
Bioburden testing, also known as total viable count testing, is a procedure that measures microbial contamination. Microbes, such as bacteria and fungi, can be introduced into products during the manufacturing process through contamination of raw materials or by the personnel or environment used for manufacturing. The manufacturing of many products, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics, use bioburden testing to ensure products are safe for sale and use.
