    Chronic illnesses are defined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) as diseases conditions which last for more than one year. Chronic illnesses often require ongoing medical intervention which can be costly and impact quality of life. Examples of chronic diseases include heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
