    Long-term Potentiation

    Synapses are sites which transmit electric nerve impulses between nerve cells. Long-term potentiation (LTP) describes the strengthening of synapses to increase signal transduction between the nerve cells. Monitoring LTP is often used by neuroscientists and physicians to study memory.
