POCT
POCT describes simple medical tests performed at a patients' bedside opposed to in a laboratory. Results from POCT are usually rapid so they significantly reduce the time needed to determine the best course of treatment. Examples of POCT include rapid diagnostic tests, urine test strips, and portable ultrasounds.
