What is the Potential for Life on Mars?

International organizations are pouring in billions of dollars to find signs of life on Mars. While some evidence points towards the possibility of its existance in the distant past, many question whether it could still be there today. That said, here's a summary of what we know so far about the potential for life on the red planet.
