CRISPR

CRISPR: It's been the buzzword of the scientific community for a few years now, and it's not going away anytime soon. Short for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats, CRISPR is a novel way for researchers to manipulate and edit genomes.

Although gene editing is not a new concept, the relative ease of use, low cost, and high efficiency makes this system immensely powerful and transformative. This is why the CRISPR pioneers have been recognized among TIME magazine's most influential people of 2016.
