Here's Why it's Best to Stay Home From Work When You're Sick

WRITTEN BY: Anthony Bouchard

We get it - some of you are work-a-holics, and even when you're not feeling that great, you'll still put on your adult shoes and go to work anyhow.

Although your endurance is admirable, even if you feel fine enough to work, you run the risk of getting everyone else around you sick, which may just be reason enough to stay home even when you think you're feeling well enough to get things done.

Understandably, some places won't let you take off too many days in a row, but studies do show that even the smallest amounts of contaminated work environments can be enough to spread an illness, such as a cold or the flu.

The fact of the matter is, even if you're keeping your hands washed, coughing into your elbow, and avoiding people like the plague, you still leave behind germs on door handles, coffee pot handles, light switches, push buttons, keyboards, and other stuff that other people have to touch.

These germs can stay alive outside of a host for hours, and it takes not even a few hours to spread to other hosts, which in turn gets other people sick.
