ASTM D8322: A New Test Method that Streamlines Elemental Analysis in Crude and Fuel Oil

Speakers

Abstract

For more than 40 years, Agilent has played a leadership role in ASTM International, the standards body for the energy and chemical industries. ASTM D8322 is a new test method for elemental analyses in crude and fuel oil, streamlining the determination of iron, nickel, vanadium, sulfur, calcium, sodium, potassium, aluminum, silicon and zinc into one test method. D8322 synchronizes the crude and fuel oil analysis requirements using microwave plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (MP-AES). The MP-AES is proven, productive and cost effective, providing a safer one instrument analysis for all needed elements in crude and fuel oils, with no need for flammable gases or on-going gas supply.
