    Biography
      Dan Held has worked in molecular biology, directed evolution, and strain engineering in a variety of industrial microbes for the last 12 years. Dr. Held is the Director of Synthetic Biology within the Microbial Applications Development group. Dr. Held's team functions collaboratively within Inscripta and with external partners to design and execute projects demonstrating the many applications of the Onyx Digital Genome Engineering platform. Before joining Inscripta, Dr. Held was a research scientist at SRI International, Codexis, and Novozymes, and a group leader at AbSci. Dr. Held earned his graduate degree at Indiana University.

    CRISPR-based genome engineering tools are currently revolutionizing the rate of biological discovery in academic and industrial settings worldwide. While already transformative, first-generation CRISPR technologies remain limited across multiple important dimensions including editing efficiency, scalability, types of modifications available, and ease of use. Inscripta’s Onyx platform represents the next generation of CRISPR tools, offering push-button, high efficiency, massively parallel, and precise delivery of diverse edit types across genome-wide targets in S. cerevisiae and E. coli. The platform simplifies previously complex CRISPR strain engineering workflow by offering an end-to-end solution from cassette design through engineered strain library, including software, reagents, benchtop instrument, and analytics. This webinar will walk the audience through the underlying technology, provide an example customer workflow on the Onyx platform, and present a sample Design-Generate-Test-Learn data set produced in E. coli using the platform.
