BIOGRAPHY
Abstract
The clinical laboratory plays a central role in the medical system; it has been estimated that 70% of medical decisions utilize laboratory data. Despite this, the lab remains largely unknown to the general public, as well as to many people working in the scientific and medical fields. This talk will utilize medical case presentations to illustrate the role of the lab in providing medical care, as well as review career opportunities in the clinical lab, across multiple educational levels.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the role of the clinical laboratory in supporting medical decision-making and patient care.
2. Describe how laboratory testing contributes to diagnosis and treatment through case-based examples.
3. Discuss career pathways and professional opportunities available within the clinical laboratory field across different educational levels.
