    Biography
      Simon Cawley, Ph.D., is Head of Software and Bioinformatics for the Ion Torrent next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform. As part of the Clinical Sequencing Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, his team is responsible for the full bioinformatics workflow from acquisition and processing of raw data off the semiconductor chip to delivery of downstream analytics and biological insights. Prior to working with the Ion Torrent platform, Dr. Cawley spent 10 years at Affymetrix as Head of Algorithms and Data Analysis for expression, genotyping and other applications. Dr. Cawley has a PhD in Statistics from the University of California at Berkeley and a BA in Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin.
