Abstract
Spheroids and organoids, two examples of 3D cell culture models, have become invaluable tools to study the processes that dictate behavior of tissues under physiological and pathological conditions, both in basic and pre-clinical research. The challenge lies in robust generation of uniform spheroids and organoids to minimize data variation, increase reproducibility of 3D-based high-throughput assays, and therefore yield useful data. In this webinar, we will provide guidelines for establishing 3D cancer models in-vitro, with a focus on high-throughput culturing of cancer spheroids and scalable generation of patient-derived primary cancer organoids or tumoroids. We will also highlight methods and tools to characterize the spheroids and tumoroids by imaging, and provide guidelines on troubleshooting. Finally, we will demonstrate application of these models for drug screening and immuno-oncology.
